GridInterConnect for Large Load

The Industry’s Solution for Large Load Interconnection

Data centers, AI campuses, and advanced manufacturing are a new class of grid customer — and they need power fast. GridInterConnect™  for Large Load is the system of record for large load interconnection, managing every request from first discovery to energization across developer, transmission owner, regional transmission operator, and vertically integrated utility processes. FERC’s 2026 orders are the catalyst. The goal is speed-to-power without sacrificing reliability or affordability.

The Moment

Large load integration isn't just a customer service request. It's a grid-readiness process.

On June 18, 2026, FERC voted 5–0 to issue tailored Section 206 show cause orders to all six FERC-jurisdictional RTOs/ISOs — the catalyst for a new, auditable category of grid connection.

Beyond the Six RTOs

Two Layers of Rules.
One Platform.

FERC’s orders reset the wholesale layer — but large load applicants increasingly must clear a second, state-level layer too. GridInterConnect™  for Large Load manages both from a single system of record.

State · Commitment Layer

State commissions and utilities are turning loosely defined data-center requests into structured service obligations — MW thresholds, minimum-demand and take-or-pay terms, collateral, ramp schedules, and exit fees.

  • Texas — PUCT large-load rules and ERCOT's Batch Zero study for projects ≥75 MW
  • Ohio — data-center tariff with mandatory intake/study at or above 25 MW
  • Virginia — new large-load class with minimum charges and collateral
  • Pennsylvania — model tariff: interconnection studies, direct upgrade-cost recovery, public queue transparency
  • Oregon — cost causation, stranded-cost protection, and clean-supply rules under the POWER Act
Wholesale · Access & Study Layer

The wholesale layer governs transmission access, study procedures, network-upgrade cost transparency, co-location and BTM treatment, flexible-load service, and generation adequacy.

  • FERC — Section 206 show cause orders to all six RTOs/ISOs, on a ~60-day reform clock
  • SPP — the FERC-accepted High Impact Large Load (HILL) framework, a model for other regions
  • ERCOT — batch-based large-load process screening readiness, maturity, and controllability
  • Every region — variation in thresholds, service products, and 60–90 day study timelines

A large-load applicant now navigates both federal and state layers at once. GridInterConnect™  for Large Load makes intake evidence, queue status, study milestones, financial-security deadlines, load-ramp assumptions, and co-location treatment visible, auditable, and jurisdiction-specific across the entire journey.

Challenge & Solution

Large Load Interconnection Is a Data, Collaboration, and Certainty Problem

The Challenge

AI data centers and computational loads are a new class of grid customer — and they need power, fast. However, there’s a circular tension at the core: transmission owners and utilities need certainty that a load is real, ready, and financeable, while the load developers needs certainty on where, when, and at what cost.

Interconnection stakeholders still operate in silos — spreadsheets, email, disconnected systems — producing inconsistent data, slow studies, and no defensible audit trail. FERC’s orders demand the opposite: serve hyperscale load reliably and affordably (protecting large loads and existing ratepayers alike) on a compressed timeline. Low certainty is expensive leading to duplicative multi-site testing, higher capital-risk premiums, and abandoned projects.

The Solution

Mapped to Every FERC Reform Area.

GridInterConnect™  for Large Load operationalizes each of FERC’s five focus areas as configurable, auditable workflows so your region can respond to its show cause order, file under Section 205, and administer the new rules the day they take effect.

  • Efficient Study Processes: Develop efficient transmission service application and study processes, including consideration of alternative transmission technologies
  • Cost Transparency: Prevent cost shifting and require transparency into transmission costs
  • Co-Location Rules: Accommodate co-location agreements and behind-the-meter generation
  • Flexible Load Service: Provide new transmission services for flexible large loads
  • Generation Studies: Develop a process to study generating facilities that serve electrically proximate large loads and co-located loads

Built for the New Class of Grid Customer

FERC is the catalyst, but the bigger story is a new class of grid customer. GridInterConnect™  for Large Load is built to enable the next era of grid-connected load growth — not just to check a compliance box.

From Discovery to Energization

One platform for the entire large-load lifecycle, first inquiry through energization, so nothing falls through the cracks between teams and jurisdictions.

Accelerating Speed-to-Power

For hyperscalers the hardest part isn’t land — it’s power. Evaluate options, coordinate studies, and manage milestones to shorten the path from request to service.

Governance & Transparency

A transparent system of record for decisions, studies, commitments, and upgrade responsibility — protecting existing customers from cost shifting.

Large Load Portfolio Management

Manage hundreds of megawatts to gigawatts of load requests across utilities, transmission providers, RTOs, and states from a single platform.
